Window Mart Supports Every Kid Deserves a Shot in Edmonton

Window Mart is proud to support Every Kid Deserves a Shot, an Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation initiative presented by Rogers that helps remove barriers to sport for children and youth in our community. This isn’t about selling windows or doors. It’s about giving kids in our local Edmonton neighbourhoods a fair chance at things that matter to them. Here is an overview of what the program does and where our support is directed.

Organized sports aren’t free, and for many families, the cost of registration and equipment alone can prevent a child from joining a team. Every Kid Deserves a Shot aims to bridge that gap, ensuring more children have the opportunity to play and feel like they belong. Many parents face this common issue, which is precisely why a program like this was created in the first place.

The initiative is managed by the Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation and presented by Rogers. The Foundation directly operates programs such as First Shift, Colby’s Kids, ICE School, Oilers Hockey School, and Junior Oilers, although this is not an exhaustive list. The initiative also relies on community partners like KidSport, Sport Central, Free Play for Kids and the Hockey Alberta Foundation.

Through its programs and community partners, Every Kid Deserves a Shot helps reduce barriers to participation by supporting areas such as:

Providing the necessary equipment for playing

Creating inclusive environments and educational programs that serve every child

Funding the organizations and community groups that initially introduce kids to hockey.

This support extends beyond the rink through education. Equity, diversity, and inclusion form the foundation of everything we do, both on and off the ice.
